Taking up farming

My father has a 12 acre farm sitting idle on the west coast after it was left to him by his mother.
He only visits it now and again.
I'm just back from oz and the job prospects here don't seem too great so I was thinking of putting the place to some use.
If you had a 12 acre farm sitting idle what would you do? Sheep are very common up this side so I'm guessing this might be a start. I have no experience in farming and am hitting 30 soon. I was thinking maybe a b and b or hostel too.

Doing what everyone else does ,but on 12-acres isnt going to take you far ...

Campsite glamping pet farm etc. If its near a tourist area there might be grants for start up business
Farming on its own might give you something to do but won't make you any money.
A base for some craft store might be worth a try too if you have an interest like chainsaw carving or pottery etc.
Forestry or leasing or selling would probably give you more than farming.

Have you any experience of growing veg? The only way of making a living of that small of a farm is market gardening and trying to sell the produce direct to the public with a market stall or a box scheme. But there's a serious amount of work in it

There is a man selling veg in Newport out of the boot of his car. Doubt if he is making a fortune. Think he is only doin I as a hobby.
