    Hi,

How would a sole trader go about paying tax on a website designed by a student (unemployed) and subsequently claim it as an expense? The person is currently studying to be a web designer but has not yet established a company

    Thanks

If it was freelance you just pay him what he quoted / agreed. He then handles own tax.
Invoice doesn't need to be overly complicated. Just have him state his name and price. Once it's a legitimate expense it is allowable.

It's not your concern, it's his.

I may be wrong but I think you need to earn above a certain amount per year to declare tax.

Don't know how that might might fit into his social payments.
