    Hi ,

I reported that the two shores in the back garden are spewing human waste on Monday to your faults department explaining the urgency of this issue to which a crew came out on Thursday .

The crew basically said it was nothing to do with our plot of land and that it was from a property further down the scheme.

I was told to tell my neighbours to ring and report .

I think you I derstand the urgency of this and I would appreciate it if you could get back to me asap. The customer Care team on the phone are hopeless and cannot resolve this.

As I found out last week - you log a call with Irish Water who then pass it back to the council.  We cannot contact the council directly.

    Hi

Thank you for getting a call organised for me.

unfortunately, the man on the phone told me the blockage is in my neighbour's section of piping and as such, Irish Water can't do anything unless my neighbour complains. He then suggested I call back on Friday if sewerage is still pouring out of the pipe.

I'm very unsatisfied with this for a number of reasons -

    1. I cannot force my neighbour to complain. why WOULD they complain? The sewerage isn't leaking into their garden!

    2. Wait til Friday? I'm sorry but this is human waste and excrement. It is a health hazard. It is a disgusting situation and utterly unacceptable to be expected to sit back and wait while my garden is further contaminated, with no timeframe or even promise to resolve this issue.

The water waste service is the responsibility of IW. Your property (piping!) is pouring hazardous waste onto MY property.

It's not something I'm going to allow to continue. This situation needs to be rectified.

As it stands, the garden is so flooded with waste, we cannot access it to even hang out washing.

If this situation isn't rectified in a timely manner, I'll have no choice but to hire a plumber and a cleaner who is able to clean human waste and bill Irish Water for the costs, going as far as a civil suit if necessary to receive reimbursement.

I understand it's not your fault and I'm sorry you're left to deal with the backlash, but this situation cannot continue.

    Thanks.

Hi Amy... if the pipe is on private property is it still  under the control of IW. The pipe servicing other properties also

Just thought I'd update the thread -

Amy has sent me a pm saying that the pipe is my problem to deal with.

however, the people they sent to my home told me the problem was with a pipe blockage on a property that isn't mine - so therefore not my property and not my problem to deal with.

as such, if I don't have a solution by close of business today, I'll be going to the environmental protection agency.

this is a mains manhole for the entire road's sewerage, so I fail to see how a blockage on my neighbour's property is MY responsibility to resolve, when Irish Water are responsible for waste water and the problem does not originate on my property, I just have the consequences to deal with.

    Hi lastjudgement,

We completely understand your frustration. However, as previously stated Irish Water are responsible for public water and wastewater services. Customers are responsible for the maintenance of all pipes on their property and inside their home.

    Kind regards,
    Amy
