after welding up a box and didn't realise that there was as much splatter. its an oil welder so amps jump in 15 per turn.

Whats the best way to file this stuff off without cutting chunks out of the metal. grinding disk on angle grinder?

    edit meant splatter not slag

Flap disk on the grinder would be the best job! Have you tried knocking some of the heavy stuff off with a chipping hammer?
