2012 Quasqui or avensis

    Hi
Recently test drove a 2012 Nissan Qashqui 1.5 ntec+ and was surprised how good it was to drive. It has 43k miles on the clock - think it's is English and FSH - and it had all the extras, satnav etc. Last service was done at 30k. Never really fancied any SUV as I've driven mainly high mileage A4 and A6s but found these problematic and expensive after two or three years. Like many others I've had to downsize in the last 3/4 years and have 3 children to drive about. Our annual mileage will be around 12-15 K, and a mixture of daily 8-10km short journeys and a fortnightly 80km round trip
Anyway I would love to know anyone's experiences driving this type of SUV. Specifically, does this car have any known mechanical or electrical issues and generally what I would need to watch out for in the next 20-30k miles. I've been quoted €19500 to buy straight (no haggling as of yet). I would appreciate any advice. Thanks

P.S. Also looked at Avensis 2.0 TR diesel 56K miles and was also impressed. Didn't notice much difference in torque altho' I didn't floor it.

Keep in mind that a new Qashqai wouldn't cost a lot more than that as they're doing scrappage deals.

I'm on my 3rd qashquai over 11 years. . Wife has A4 and much prefers a drive in my car. There's no pep /"kick" in her but very very economical , lovely car to drive and loads of room. €19.5K straight seems a bit steep though for what is a 4 year old car due 1st nct. Like I say it's my 3rd one....never a bother mechanically or electrically.

Yes, I have looked at the scrappage deals and was offered a PCP also. The price quoted is 2.5k above my budget and I will haggle if I'm happy with this car.

how long do you reckon you'd keep a 2012 Qashqai for before trading up?

Thanks. From what Iv'e read and talking to a former owner it seems like an unexciting but very reliable car.

Yeah, I've just looked at a few numbers on the PCP again and a discussion will be had with my other half. Mind you I have three children and a dog and the thought of a new car sends shivers up me. Oh waht to do!

I'm not sure. I've read somewhere that its best to buy after 3 years and sell after eight. Any advice?

Btw had a look at a car similar to this:
    https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/toyota-avensis-2-0-d-4d-tr/10537343
Really nice car and comfortable. The quote on mine was €15k and I think I could get 1-2K off.
    Qashqui or Avensis?

Boot space is quiet poor in the Qashqui, as you may have noticed. With 3 kids and a madra, I would be looking at other options in estate form.

??? Loads of room in boot....I have a husky & she got plenty of room in back. The quashqai is great for getting in and out of as it's that bit higher...also handy on the ol back for putting kids in &out of kids seats. I've had 3 qashqai ' s ....first was petrol and 2 diesels....find em a great car with good resale / trade - in value. Only grievance I've ever had is lack of any 'kick'..... 1.5 diesel just isn't enough......It's grand 95% of the time but forget about drawing a trailer or if you have say 5 adults and a couple of suitcases in boot she lacks any pull...... recently had a new rav 4 with 2.0 diesel....... felt the engine size was way better suited to the size / weight of the car...but having had 3 qashqai I'd be reluctant to change / can't fault em.

If going new have a look at the Renault KADJAR. It's identical in size. Same body and engine. I think it's cheaper too.

Far as I know, the RRP of Qashqai and Kadjar are within hundreds of each other.
With the scrappage deals Nissan are doing, and with the resale of the Qashqai being strong in the 9 years they're out, it's hard to make a case for the Kadjar, unless you don't like how common-popular the Qashqai is, or if PCP figures are similar.
