Saorview channels instead of Satellite using Sky ROI ABM

    Hi,

If this should be in terrestrial, please move it. Although I guess it's applicable to both terrestrial and satellite.

I have gone through loads of posts here but I still haven't been able to get everything working as I want. The more I read the more confused I get and I keep ending up just factory resetting my box.

Here's where I am. I have a Gigablue Quad HD with OpenVix installed. I have 2 satellite tuners and 1 terrestrial tuner in the box, all hooked up. I don't have a Sky subscription. I've set everything up and done a scan. I then went in to Auto Bouquets Maker and select Sky ROI.

What I am left with is an EPG that has the channels set up like Sky does however I do not have RTE1 or RTE2 (for example). I am sure that the box is trying to get them from satellite and therefore they are scrambled.

How can I change the scrambled channels to use soar view instead of the satellite dish? Obviously I just want the channels available on soar view.

    Thanks.

The problem is that RTE1 and 2 are also carried on the Sky satellite but are encrypted. You would need to have a Sky card to view these channels via satellite.

You need to source the Irish channels from Saorview via aerial though..
Recent versions of ABM (last 6 months or so) have an option to also add Saorview as a provider and select your local transmitter (Three Rock for Dublin). This should put all the Irish channels into a Saorview bouquet.
You can play around with the configuration to make the Irish channels start at 1,2,3... and all the Sky Ireland channels start at 101.

I set this up for my parents and personally I didn't like the way the encrypted channels on Sky (RTE, Sky Atlantic etc.) were showing as blank so went for a Freesat UK setup instead. All the channels are organised nicely with no black channels.

Yes, this is what I want to do. I want only the FreeSat channels to show plus the soar view channels. I am able to get just free view but not both. I do have a terrestrial aerial plugged in. How do I get both?

To confirm, I am using the built in ABM, not autobouquets. How do I know if it's the right version? I got the latest OpenVix image a few weeks ago off the website.

I managed to find saorview and add it as a provider. It scanned but no sign of it on my EPG. I'll keep digging.

You definitely have a recent enough version if you have the latest Vix.

When you select Saorview in ABM, you need to select a transmitter as well.
Just make sure you select the right one for you.

Also make sure you have set the DVB-C/T tuner to terrestrial in the tuner settings.

You made need to switch bouquet to see Saorview as well.
When you run ABM, it should then create the required bouquets based on the settings you chose.

You can also use dreamboxedit to drag and drop the channels into what ever order you like
    Very easy to use
only downside is that if you run autoboquets again it will reorganise your channels

You can also use the webif ( type in the ip address of your box into firefox ) to edit your boquets

I use a Mac so can't use DreamBoxEdit unfortunately. So I've made a lot of progress today. I have two Bouquets now, one for Saorview and one for Northern Ireland Freesat. I have it set to show the Bouquets when you launch guide so it's easy enough to switch between them however I'm hell bent on getting them working together.

Dubrov - I found your post on World of Satellite but it didn't work. I changed the Provider name to me and followed your steps but when I did a scan I only got the Freesat channels, no Saorview. I might try the Favourites route next.

I know I'll get it somehow though. Next up will be RTE Player, TV3 Player etc. My Mother is a very happy woman :)

You can use the built in webif to edit your boquets also
just type in the ip add of your box if its connected to your network or plug a patch lead from your mac to the box and assign a fixed ip

Is it possible to get someone to come to your house to set up a saor view television. Reading all the above posts..... like double dutch to me. Have sky, hd box for one television in one room, but just want the basic channels on the new telly.

Hey. Yes, there are people who do that. Setting up Saorview is easy peasey though. You just plug your UHF aerial (either the aerial on the roof or even rabbit ears depending where you are) in and scan for channels (assuming you have a saorview telly or a saorview box in the back of your telly).

What is tricky is setting up a satellite and terrestrial combo box with the configuration you might want. A lot of people get professionals around to do that although to be honest to get a basic setup working isn't all that difficult really (says me who was very confused this morning ).

Anyway for saorview with just the Irish channels you can post in the terrestrial forum if you need to but honestly, anyone can do that.

That's me alright. I set it up for my parents while ago and haven't had to touch it since. I don't have the box in front of me but I remember picking Freesat NI and Saorview (Dublin-Three Rock) in the settings.

I then uploaded the attached file to by FTP to /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/SystemPlugins/AutoBouquetsMaker/custom.
You'll need to remove the ".txt" from the end of the file. Boards wouldn't allow upload of an xml file for some reason. This file sets the Saorview channels as 1-30.

I went for a single main bouquet with no separate bouquets as that is what they were most used to. I think can mean the EPG takes a little longer to load due to the number of channels but it seemed ok.
You can setup ABM to run once a day (overnight preferably) and you shouldn't have to touch the channel setup again.
Any frequency changes or new Freesat channels should automatically get updated.

Nice one, I'll try this file. If it works I'll be able to see what was wrong with my file. I think I was close. Yeah I have it set to update every night.

Might give the picons a go after a while :)

Works perfectly Dubrov, thanks very much.

There are picons for the lcd screen at the front at picons for channel browsing.

I've read that you should store the files on the flash memory. They would be constantly accessed so that should improve performance.

A challenge for next time I'm down.

@budgemook I use an azbox with original firmware for fta satellite & saorview. I have added the irish terrestrial & my choice of channels from 28.2 to a favourites folder, not very technical but it keeps what I want in one place.

Not sure what that box or firmware is really but thanks.

It's all sorted out now anyway, working perfectly after using Dubrov's XML file.
