Raising Drivers Seat

I have a BMW 3 Series, and well pleased, but being no longer 'young' I find the driving position very low, particularly getting in and out of the car. Even though the seat is adjusted to highest setting. My question: is it possible to fit a part under the the seat rails to lift it 1 or 2 inches. The roof height in my case not an issue.
    All advice or recommendations welcome.

While I'm sure you could, in theory anyway have something fabricated to fit - in the event of a crash, where does that leave you? Will that part fail? Is the seat now outside safety tolerances... and that's before the insurance aspect of it.

There's a seat runner extender fitted to some cars for disabled drivers. This allows the runner to extend further to the rear, but by default also raises the height of the seat. Anyone who adapts cars for the disabled drivers scheme would do this for you.

Where are you based? I know a chap that'd do that for you no bother
