Evening all, im building a cavity block shed 4m x 3m and im putting on a hip roof, thing is ive never done one before can anybody give me some help/info, is there any books I could buy or videos. YouTube have lots of American videos but are all in inches and hard to understand.

Is there a dumb way of doing this with bevel edge and protector.

The only trick for a novice is to take your time and have a good understanding of the geometry involved in triangles and squares.
Set out a big square on the ground and mark out your rafters actual size off that square angles birds mouth and all.

Thanks for your help I can understand the common rafters with your layout but how can I mark the hip rafter and Jack rafter.

I really don't want to put a flat roof on.

It'd be impossible to explain the hip and jack rafter setting out procedure on here wit a message or two I'd be here all day at it !!😳
But if you understand the common rafter lay out then it should click with you about the hips the jack rafters are the same as the common rafters only shorter and with the plumb cut the same but cut with a 45 degree bevel
The one thing to remember is when you have your birds mouth cut the vertical height from the node of the birds mouth to the top of the rafter is kept the same on all subsequent rafters that goes for hips, valleys and jack rafters
This distance keeps all rafters in line on the wallplates
I won't go in to dihedral angles yet😉
Good luck with it , it's all triangles.
