So i am technically clueless and dont understand the broadband world so need some help. We were unable to get broadband through our eir phoneline as it was too far away from the receiver so we have since had the phoneline disconnected. We currently use Three mobile broadband but it is slow and constantly has periods of no network available.

So what are my options -what other types of broadband are available to me that do not need a phoneline or are not mobile. Heard at about Virgin Media or satelite broadband but kind of afraid of all the jargon and tech stuff if i call them.

So need an idiots guide to broadband solutions if anyone can help. Thanks.

    1. Try fitting an antenna for 3G/4G mobile
    2. Then fixed wireless
    3. Then Satellite - Don't even bother with this really

Use IrelandOfflines map to see what FWA providers cover you.

If you have a Three MiFi / Router, I would suggest trying it in window on each side of the house in case one side has better view of a mast.

If your house is relatively new or the windows were fitted less than 10 years ago, there is a good chance they have Low-E coated glass. In this case, try placing the MiFi / router between two glass panes or at either edge to see if the signal improves as the Low-E glass coating heavily attenuates the signal.
