Hi all, just a quick query

Is there stamp duty on new builds? I'm looking at getting a newly built semi detached house

Yes, on the base price before VAT is added.

I was wondering two things - Is there VAT on all new builds? Id the price they are quoting me likely to include VAT @ 13.5%

Also ids stamp duty payable immediately or could you pay it off a couple of months after you buy a new house?

You must pay stamp duty immediately as part of closing the sale, your solicitor will need it to register the deeds.

Yes all new builds have VAT but I'd ask on the new build price quoted to be certain whether it includes VAT or not.
