i'm always overly cautious and would give myself at least 3 hours. immigration could take 10 mins, could take 1hr. coz it's the first flight, chances are, you will be queuing for a while

Be walking up to the desk at 6am.

7am could be too tight if you hit heavy traffic going through security or US immigration, 6am would be safe.

I would be there 3 hours beforehand as well - just to be sure, you never know what delays you may get - better be way to early than rushing and panicking if your running late

2 1/2 hrs minimum, give yourself peace of mind.
