Not many places will split a good engine to give you the cylinder head. It may be easier to buy the whole engine if going the breaker route. alternatively there are quite a few places offering refurbished heads, you will have to pay more if yours is not in a condition to be sent back to them but at least it would be warrantied and fresh.

You can't blame them i suppose, Looks like my best best will be an engine that had the timing belt snap.

If you can find one... Your best be really is to get a refurbished one, will only cost 4-600 and you will know its good, as opposed to 150-300 for second hand that may be scrap.

What happened to your own head?

I agree, A breaker wanted 180 for a second hand one but said he didn't want to hear a thing about it once it left his yard, Left that one where it was.

Think I've found one through an engineering shop, Should come to around 550 and that includes swapping over cams, valves etc as well as a gasket. He's also going to pressure test it for me, as well as guaranteeing it.

Just cracked George, Very common with that engine.
