The person replacing for Louise whiles she's away on wedding/holidays is far superior. a lot more talented and entertaining LD

That's Pamela I think filling in. She's usually on at the weekends. I agree she's far superior and has a much better taste in music than Louise.

She just gets on with it too, Louise tries too hard to be funny and the way she can't pronounce her 'ing's' drives me to insanity. When she was on early breakfast, everytime she said, 'Good Morneen' made me want to rip my own ears off.

Paula MacSweeney is filling in for the next few weeks Paula does the early breakfast and Showbiz news for Ian Dempsey show

    That wouldn't be hard.

Hopefully 2fm will snap her up fairly lively

Baula brounounzes her P's as B's and T's as D's in the most mid atlantic fashion possible.

To be honest I don't know how either of them are on the radio, both equally as bad as each other. Louise Duffy with her inane " banter" and Paula Mcsweeney with that ridiculous fake laugh. And I'd say neither know too much about music.

I don't know how L Duffy managed to get her own radio show on Today FM.
To my knowledge, her previous radio experience before the early breakfast 5-7 am after Tim Kelly was taken off was AA Roadwatch reports only??
These new wave of presenters get their music knowledge from the internet and what the playlists put in front of them.

    Madness.

Paula is giving away a "dousand euro to zelebrade donighds loddo jackpod"

    She is absolutely painful.

First day listening to her since her wedding, she's horrendous, zero talent shouldn't be on the radio

Do Today FM just give people shows if they hang around long enough....Actually the same applies to Alison 'EJ 53102 Kids fake laugh' Curtis

It has Rick O Shea's name written all over it. With 50k followers on Twitter its a no brainer for them. He's weekday material.

Shes another one of these "personalities" trying to push themselves in the media. Another irritating voice on the radio

Is everyone forgetting why she is actually there? She was only filling in for Tony Fenton while he was undergoing chemo.

And let's not forget that only a few months before Tonys passing when he was showing improvement it was announced that Louise was being moved to a different "Prime time" slot.

Then Sadly Tony passed away and Today Fm went into damage control.
They now had to keep Louise on the afternoons even though they were planning on moving her to 7 in the evenings after promoting Colm O'Sullivan so they then had to rush the promotion to National radio Of Ferghal Darcy.

In the last survey I did from Today Fm there were loads of questions but the only two specific shows I was asked about were the Louise Duffy show and the Anton Savage show which leads me to believe that Today Fm still aren't convinced by either of them and is also one of the reasons they had the show swap day last month.

I don't think Louise will be presenting that show by the end of the year.

Just switch over to Tracy Clifford and straight away you notice the difference in quality and natural talent.

You'll notice more and more now at the end of Dermot & Dave that Louise will come on for the bit of "banter" to show how much craic she is in the hope that some Dermot & Dave listeners will stay for her show.

Tracy Clifford has as much talent as my big toe on the radio. she garbles on and says tuneage this tuneage that..

    no talent there

In fairness as soon as Ray D'arcy left the station there was far interaction between all the presenters on air. Ian will regularly reference Antons show and visa versa. Dont see LD and D&D been any different. Would just see it as a far more cohesive on air team where everyone seems to get along. Also goes beyond handovers, Dave is regularly called in studio by LD for chats. From my memory they are not teased beforehand so not trying to drag the D&D audience to listen to LD

Agreed. She sounds like someone on work experience in college radio

Ya they all get along so well that the only Today FM presenter invited to Louise wedding was Phil Cawley and the only reason he was invited was because he was the DJ for the evening.

Each to their own but in a toss up between Louise and Tracey in the afternoon it's Tracey everyday of the week for me.

Ian Dempsey was at the wedding also, I do agree she should not be presenting a prime time slot on national radio.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,694 ✭✭✭✭siblers

My biggest criticism of her is that she's a terrible interviewer, constantly interrupting and rambles on and on about nothing but the music she plays is 100 times better than the generic ****e on 2fm and it does have some good features.

I really like the show, good music and a bit of craic. Plus I don't over think it.

I much prefer tracy clifford like her show still miss rick o shea though wasted on weekends.

Tracey Clifford is another blow in. Far too premature to be on a national station holding a five day week slot. Louise Duffy is out of her depth. National radio during the weekday afternoon is at an all time low. There's plenty on the local's to keep minds and ears occupied.

And this how RTE in particular are dammed if do, dammed if they don't, For years everyone was criticizing 2fm for having the same line up of djs for decades and asking for new talent and now that new talent has joined 2fm right across the weekday schedule, they get called blow ins.

I like the show , it's easy listening she seems fun and likable. I hope they don't move her there's a good line up there now from Ian right through to Matt

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,296 ✭✭✭✭gimmick

I agree. Not sure exactly what people are after. She plays a decent mix of music relatively speaking for national radio, she also comes off as a pretty easy going person.

I dont see how she is at all out of her depth. She doesn't come across as needy like some other presenters and there is an overall decent flow to her show.

I actually agree. Louise show is easy listening she plays good music often throws in a classic. If your choices are 2fm or Tipp fm you'll appreciate her even more

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,470 ✭✭✭JoeA3

I think she's improved an awful lot since she started in the afternoons first, I find her easy enough to listen to. As others have said, she sounds like an easy going affable enough person that I'd be happy to go for pints with ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,539 ✭✭✭johnire

I totally agree. I really like Louise. She's very easy to listen to and seems a nice person. I like the music she plays and the chat is good fun. Neither does she have to have the support of side kicks to help her. Ann Gleeson is there in the background but not to the fore and the whole thing plays out very nicely.

Louise Duffy is down 4,000 listeners with an audience of 94,000...not really good enough for Today FM? And Dermot and Dave down 2,000 to 121,000...a far cry from the 150,000 odd Foley pulled in when he was on lunchtimes.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 614 ✭✭✭colinod0806

I wonder how many of the 94,000 are just people who leave today fm on all day. If I knew for sure that there was better on elsewhere I would switch in a heartbeat.

Irish people seem to have an issue pronouncing the letter g at the end of ing.

I like the way she speaks I know it's not correct but I like it . She puts no T in words like little either so it's kinda li ill but I like that too .

So are you saying all presenters outside Dublin can't speak correctly? Or that they don't

In reality no one really days the g anymore in those doing words we use everyday, especially in a conversational tone. It's not exactly an essential part of the word.

Ahh, you noticed it too, "li ill", but she says that word so often it's hard not to, "a li ill bit of" before and after a song, then, the "like, actually, literally" turned her off on my drive to work in the mornings, it done my head in,
I like Paula, playing now, good music doesn't say them words all the time and a durty laugh..

The advertising for this show is getting more and more desperate. The bosses must really want her to succeed instead of just binning her.

Was thinking that alright. The tv ads alone must be setting them back.

Every afternoon I'm back in the office and this show is on. Same songs every day with the odd different one to make it seem like theres some variety. The 'craic' herself and the other girl on the show attempt to have is the bloody pits as well.

    Desperate stuff altogether.

Louise Duffy and Ann Gleeson......... absolutely painful to listen to when they're "being funny" together.

With such classic pieces as "Lovebag"... jesus suffering **** it's bad.

Will leahy would be perfect for this slot

They have accents. Like most people.

Well the slot wouldn't be perfect for him because he is in court at 2.30 in the afternoon and Marconi House is a long drive from Limerick.

She is playing that Brian Deady song to death my good god make it stop. I don't mind her, not hugely talented but you'd listen away.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 1,470 ✭✭✭Whereisgalway

Her segment " why my child threw tantrum today" was the least original thing I've ever heard. Pretty sure the daily edge had a article exactly like it a fews back.
