Going buying a new bale trailer for silage, it is only going to be 18ft 6 but Ill be carrying 13 wrapped bales mostly and an option to carry a second row on top and wondering what tyres to go with, had 500 45 22.5 bkt ride max floatations in the head but there adding nice cost to the trailer, are they worth the cost? Anything similar but wider than a super single out there to go with? Something suited for 50k also

If your going 50k your going to have to get high speed axles on the trailer which means it's either super singles , 500 or 550 tyres

Ya the trailer iv priced has new commercial axels. The 500 45 22.5 bkt ride max are a radial tyre, suppose to be stronger than a cross ply

how can you get 13 bales onto an 18ft 6 trailer? especially without going onto the second row!! is it a 28ft 6 trailer?

They are stronger on the walls than crossply at speed for the road with heavy loads over say 10 ton. The walls of the tyre wouldn't flex as much as a crossply. The crossply is able to carry weight better over ground if you get me.

2 rows of 4 on the bottom and one row of 5 on top. Hi racks front and back on it.

You'd be safer with 11 bales on an 18 ft trailer. That's what I plan to put on mine

Ya I no what your say. I just don't want any blow outs on the road. It would be a lot easier if I just went for a super single ha

I usual just carry 11 on mine as well but a longer trailer isn't a option for me so going to put high heavy duty racks on it to carry 2 more on the top row

    got ya

Will you be able to load and unload them with damaging wrap?

500 are double the width of a super single. Far better tyre. Getting a new new trailer myself and went for the 500s so as it's a double axle it will have the equivalent of 8 super singles under it

Ya I use an elephant truck so hopefully my idea will work. It will save me going with a longer trailer which isn't really an option for me.

What make tyre are they going to be? Are they 500 45 22.5? What lenght trailer are you going for?

ah yes an elephant trunk would work alright

how do you find it compared to the normal type?

These are them but in crossply. She is a 14ft tipper with 4ft extension so 18ft total. Tractor only does 30k so no need for radial even if they look better :o

Unreal job, I'd never go back but took a good bit of getting used to as I was very used to the normal ones

And would you find it hard to unload the bottom row of the trailer with the trunk when the bales are back to back? our would there always be space? Make the load a bit wider?

I leave a gap of 3 or 4 inch usually but ud wiggle your way in even if they were close together

There's low profile super singles u can get that are wider than normal super singles 445/50 r19.5.
They will also keep the trailer nice n low to the ground.
