Currently looking to book a wedding photographer. I notice some work alone while others have a 2nd there on the day.

Will I gain much more from having a 2nd photographer or will it make much difference?

One spends the morning with the bride, one with the groom.

You get different angles for ceremony shots so that all bases are covered.

Probably more pictures overall, of a higher quality because they could filter out more of the poorer ones.

    They're probably the main benefits.

As Faith said, you just cover more angles with a 2nd photographer. Instead of a single photographer having to travel between bride & groom and therefore potentially missing shots, you have 2 photographers, one staying with each of the bride and groom. Also, you'll probably find that during the ceremony, more angles can be covered that typically would be secondary to the 'money shots' that a single photography must get (e.g. as bride walking down aisle, one photographer is up at the alter looking down while the the 2nd can be at the back with the bride).

With a skilled single photographer, you'll get all the key shots and plenty of the photos of the day. The 2nd photo just gets you that bit more coverage of the day. Up to you if it is worth it to have two photographers.
