Registering with NHS (GP and dentist) questions

Hi. There's nothing urgent at the moment (though I could do with a dental checkup...) but I think I should register with my local GP and dentist just in case. Also I want to start giving blood and reckon I'll need to be registered (?).

How does one go about this? Looking here it makes reference to an NHS number/card, do I need to apply for them beforehand? Any help appreciated!

For a doctor, you just need proof of address and NI I think.
As it's a new doctor you'll be required to be seen by the nurse first.

Same deal with the dentist, minus the nurse bit obviously.

Agreed. National Insurance Number and proof of your UK address are all you need.

You won't have an NHS number if you have no history with the NHS.
