Not now. The currency issue makes it not worth it imho.

Cars up North are generally more expensive to buy than from the mainland UK because of the convenience of travelling from the South. If your aim is to get a better spec, in better condition car than down here then it might be worth the trip but if your aim is to save money then the exchange rate may kill that.

I've done the math a few times over the past while and it basically boiled down to if you are prepared to spend the same money but get a better spec'd car. That or if you are after something unique or rare here.

Sarsfield Motors has been around a long time. No personal experience.

My understanding is the XC70 is reasonably heavy on juice and its a big block pre-2008, so I'd factor your tax bill there. Average price for a 2005 Volvo is €3575 with an average mileage of 190,045km (118k miles) based on 97 cars in the last 60 days. With that in mind the mileage is bang on but the price is probably a shade high. That said, its reasonably high spec. If you liked it and could knock your year's tax off the bill, it would be worth considering.

http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056966151&page=5 might be worth checking out this thread in relation to the company.

I dont know much about the car but they have obviously being trying to sell it since sept last year and nct is out since may 2015. Seems very lazy to have not got a new nct on it since it expired. Mileage also seems very low for an 11 yr old diesel

    Thanks for replies
I've had an eye out for a regular v70 or a Subaru Forester but they are in short supply at the moment

I had seen that Subaru, looks really clean. I had an STI version back in 05
They are such an oddball car:P

Bazz posted this one in another thread - https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/volvo-v70-est-auto-nct-d-03-16-06-only-95kms/11177728

If that is legit, that is a hell of a lot of car for very little money. Going to be a bit on the thirsty side being the 2.0T, but a lot more reasonable to tax than a D5 (and the one in Sarsfield is coming back as 2,401cc so €1,080)

One of my pet hates is the refusal to put the tax on this. We know it's big, just put it up!
