BMW delivery charges

BMW are quoting 865 for delivery and 355 for a starter pack. When I queried what was in the starter pack they said that the starter pack was the breakdown of delivery and that it is from BMW Germany. Does anyone know why there are two charges for delivery?
    Thanks.

The starter pack is more or less pure profit for the dealer on BMW's. Full tank of fuel and some cleaning products. Used to be mats as well, but pretty sure they are now standard on all BMW's.

No escaping the €865 delivery charge, but tell them you'll decline their kind offer of being horrifically overcharged for some BMW branded cleaning products.

The starter pack Is purely down to the dealer not BMW.
    It's pure bs.
I've bought new bmws and copped on to it after being stung the first time when it appeared on the invoice. The other thing they slip in is " seal and protect" which is a new car protection product but not great according to the detailing lads that post here .
If you've signed an order with the starter pack on it I'm not sure if you're caught or not but I would definitely protest.

When I bought my F10 back in 2014 they tried to up-sell me lots of things too - paint work seal protection, write off value insurance, etc. The car wasn't new so didn't get offered the starter pack thankfully.

No they just said that it was part of delivery charges. Got full tank of diesel but nothing else.

its all just all mostly money in the dealers pocket....

€200 gets the car delivered from the port/storage yards and pre delivery inspection done... which includes checking fluids, checking car starting, removal of protection films, wash and a wee drop of fuel...

€60/80 then to top the tank up by the dealer....

so a lot of profit for them, a scam really

OP why don't don't you collect it from the factory yourself and save yourself the delivery charge? They will still hit you with pre delivery inspection charge but it's a great experience. I did it in 2002 (when I had money) and if I ever buy a new one (unlikely) I would do it again.

How did you get to pick up from the factory?
I thought this was only available to US and mainland europe buyers?

It was 2002 so maybe different back then. I ordered direct from the distributor at the time (Frank Keane) I didn't know that there was a restriction on Irish buyers collecting from the factory.
