Tax on rental income

Hi all, I'm hoping someone can advise. I have an apartment on the County Council shared ownership scheme. This means the Council own part of the property and I pay rent on their share. I have been given permission to rent it out.

At present I pay approx €500 per month in mortgage repayments and €300 in rent to the Council. My query is would the rent portion be an allowable expense against tax on my rental income?

    Thanks,

    Vixter

Hey Vixter, with not many people on the scheme posting here answers can be few, did you find out any more yourself? what Council was it?
