Getting married outside Ireland

    Hello all,

My girlfriend and I want to get married, after thinking about it for a while we decided on new years eve that we actually want it.

I am living in Ireland but have Dutch nationality.
My girlfriend will be living here also but also Dutch nationally.

We do not have plans of moving back to the Netherlands but do we want to get married there because of family reasons.

How does This work and what papers do I need to make it legal in Ireland since we are living here.

Any tips? I've never married before and I'm not planning on doing it a second time, actually it's against my own rules to marry more than once.

If you get married in the Netherlands, the marriage will be recognised here too.

You might need a copy of the marriage certificate in some cases, e.g. if your girlfriend changes her name.
