    Hi all,

I've been searching for a car for me and the missus but dont really know what I'm looking for or what to stay away from. Has anyone with some experince in buying second hand cars come across any ad's for less than 1000 euro ? Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Is age/insurance/tax a factor here? If not I personally would say go for a 2001 Accord or something like that.

Accords are a great car from what I've researched. Voted one of the best reliable cars ever built

If you have no insurance history something cheap and cheerful with a small engine like a Nissan Micra that you won't be worried about the odd knock.

Cheap as possible would be best! Are accords small engines?

1.8 or 2 litres, not suitable for new drivers.

The first thing you should do is get insurance quotes on the likes of Yaris, Micra, etc. Personally I'd try to find a cheap old Daihatsu as people never think of them and the Charade world be one litre, hopefully cheap and very dependable.

You should buy any Japanese car!

No, not in Irish terms. Have a look at micra's as said above, probably the best bet.

Can anyone recommend me a car they've seen online?

Have you factored in Insurance/tax and upkeep?
Sometimes it may be cheaper to buy a slightly more expensive car that needs little done to it rather than a car that needs more work to stay legal.
Insurance can also be a problem on older cars whereas a newer car might be more acceptable to an insurance company.
