I'm looking at spending 5 nights in the stockholm area next summer with the family -two kids 7 and 4.

We will be primarily going over to visit family who are based 20 mins from the city but want to be independent.

Has anyone any recommendations as to where to stay - don't really mind about location as I might be renting a car while there .. but will need to be nice and with plenty to occupy the kids. Budget isn't too big a deal as long as it is worth it.

I don't really want to ask my family in Sweden for recommendations as they want us to stay with them for the duration but I want to be independent !
