Calf Registration Query

    Quick question about dates,
Ones of my cows calved last April but between one thing and another it was mid June before the calved was registered.
The same cow is due to calf again this April so my question is what is the minimum amount of days I need to leave between calvings ?
    Thanks

If you registered the calves date of birth wrong by mistake as mid june, just contact the dvo and ask them to correct that clerical error, then register the new calf in April as normal
    Mistakes/oversights do happen
You'll probably trigger an inspection, so have the rest of your paperwork up to date

No, I'd rather just register this year's calf as early as possible but don't know how early I can ?

Advising someone to do the right thing which will probably trigger an inspection would not be great advice imo.
I'd register this yrs calf 10 mnths after the date u registered last yrs calf. That cow correct calving date will prob be fine then by nxt yr.
I wouldn't be inclined to bring the wolf to my door if I could avoid it!

I would think so, have had April calvers here that calves in Feb the following yr, and no issues with registering the calves.

My advice in a situation like that is to tell the truth with the first registration. You'll need a vet to certify the calf's age once it's over 27 days but after that everything is in perfect order with no need to be looking over your shoulder in future.

Correct advice however the department tend to discourage people from doing the right thing in terms of calf registration. if you are late registering calves they write out with reminders of penalties etc after hassle of getting the vet to fill a form.
A calf not found in the rushes for a while though raises no questions. In the case here the calf born after 10 months no questions asked even though most cows it's tight enough to get them to calve inside 12 months. I think the national average interval is about 380 days.

Register on agfood and you can't make a mistake as the system won't let you continue id is inside the minimum amount of days
I'm 99% sure that minimum amount of days is 290 but agfood online registering is the safest

    Thanks for the replies everyone.
I'm gonna go with the majority and register new calf at 10 month interval.
    Thanks again

I do know that agfood will allow registering at 290 days and after ! 289 days and inside and the system will not let you proceed ! This was the way last year maybe it has changed since
That still not to say it raises a flag with them being inside 300 days !
it was grand before the bvd testing I was able to register those ones that calved out and tag when they came in but now it's a struggle catching calves you find a week old and its a horse and lasso you'd need
