Car not starting after new battery installed

Battery died in 2007 Megane DCI so had it jump started by rescue crew- they said battery was dead and to replace immediately. I drove home - circa 30 mins keeping it over 3000 revs and it would not restart once I turned it off

I bought a Banner replacement today and fitted however only the central locking is working - everything else is dead on the car inc all interior lights, dashlights and as expected car won't start. I've had the battery tested and its putting out 690 CCA which matches the original rating (680 CCA)

Ive checked and cleaned the contacts. Im a bit confused as the central locking is working - even the indicators flash if I open the car, but no power elsewhere.

    Any ideas?

If battery was very flat & jump leads were put on wrong way round maybe a main fuse gone? did you try to start it from home with jump leads???

Battery was completely dead after being left for a few days- car had been hard to start lately and was on original 2007 battery. I wouldn't jump a car myself but got one of the recovery lads with Avia out who jumped it with a starter pack.

Could the main fuse be blown and the central locking still working?

Is the main fuse the one that sits atop the battery - seem to have one 100 amp and two 30 amp fuses?

I'm not familiar with fuses on your car but the fuse that works the starter could be gone... & still have power to other items in car.. If leads on wrong way round or maybe even if battery is very low say less than 12v (say 9v?) when trying to start car starter would draw more amps & maybe blew fuse?? can you check those 3 fuses on top of battery & see if any one of them have blown (maybe 100amp)....

Many thanks, that sounds very much like my situation I think.

I'll get that fuse from the local dealer on Monday and hopefully that sorts it out :)

Does the engine crank when you press the START button and put foot on brake or clutch pedal? I recently had one which refused to start because the clutch pedal switch was faulty, but would start when brake pedal depressed. Also does the red immobiliser light extinguish once keycard is in the reader?

No, there is literally no power in the car except the central locking, so its not even turning over and no dash lights are working. Im hoping it will be the main fuse

Yes do check the fuses as a starting off point. Hopefully its one of the 3 high amperage ones that is blown.
