HELP! "No Home Transponder"???

We were away for a few days and when we turned on the tv and selected the satellite channels they were gone. I tried scanning several times and it now states (in the 'Sat Free' mode) "No Home Transponder Found"??

(In the 'Satellite' mode it will scan, but does not find any channels?)

Does this mean the dish has moved (due to windy conditions)?
...or is there a problem with the receiver (needs to be re-set, etc)?

Hoping to have this sorted for tonight's (New Years Eve!) tv viewing?!!

    Any suggestions guys?!! Cheers!

Wind misaligning the dish would have to be the 1st thing you'd suspect. Might be obvious from a visual inspection, particularly if there are other nearby dishes (aimed at the same satellites) to compare to, might not, & it doesn't take much to mess things up.

I've checked the dish position as best I can, and it looks ok (compared to the dish across the road on a neighbours house). As you said, it doesnt take much to knock it out of synch (also doesnt help that I dont have a long-enough ladder to get up to it)

Easiest solution bring your box to a friends house with a dish, if it works there its a problem with your dish or perhaps cabling.

My first assumption would be that the dish has moved.

Doing a channel re-scan if the dish is out of position is not a good idea.
It's easier to bring a dish back to align with what were previously stored good channels.

If you are going to try and adjust position, pick a strong existing (stored) channel like BBC 1 (for 28.2E) and use that as your visual reference when you move the dish. If you have re-scanned while out of position, you may not have a reference station to rely on.

Safety first at all times - don't take risks in adjusting dishes at height.

If you can borrow a known working box from a friend or neighbour it will quickly tell you if the problem is in the box or cables/dish.

Agree re dish having moved due to recent gales being the probable reason. Think this thread should be in satellite and not terrestrial section of the boards forums.

I had the same problem yesterday, was the dish alignment. If the dish is easily accessible, just try moving it upwards slightly; usually the wind tips the elevation downwards.
