id a first Calver land a calf today, I was milking her to get beistings and it was pure white and fairly watery. She had no shortage of it in fairness but it just looked like normal milk. I had a couple of cartons in the freezer so I defrosted one of those and gave it to the calf along with two litres of its own milk. My question is; is that beistings, the fact it's so watery as good as thick yellow beistings.

Any chance another animal was sucking her?

There's always a chance . She's been in a calving pen this week or so with another one in the pen beside her. In fairness i hadn't seen any sucking her.

Heifers usually dont have as good of quality of colostrum as more mature cows . Wont be as good as thick golden colustrum but better than noting

You'd have a fair idea by the feel of the teats.
