Home bar for rent

I have my 30th birthday coming up this weekend, having friends and family over to the house.

I've been let down by a friend who was supposed to supply me with the tap and gas.

What are my options here, beside just buying a load of cans? where could I rent a tap and gas for the night at a reasonable price?

What beer are you planning on getting?

In many cases I see it as very overpriced, like I see carlsberg as 270 on that site for 50L. So its like 2.70 per 500ml can, not including the inherent wastage a keg brings.

Most heineken drinkers I know, if at a free bar, would choose bottles over pints.

If you still want it for the gimmick factor I would still be considering what alternative could be gotten for the same price. e.g. I would pay no more than 100 euro for 50L of carlsberg so would have 170euro left for something else for guests, like a rake of food, or better quality food if already putting it on.

Do any of the micro-breweries offer this as a service? Would be great to get in a couple of kegs of craft beer for a special event, or even just get a load of like-minded friends to chuck in a few quid, organise a few cheese boards / tapas etc. instead of doing the usual meal out and pints in the pub after...

Actually: do micros use full or half kegs? Cos if you could arrange for, say, 4 half kegs of different styles that would be amazing for either a party at home or as a special event in the local sports club bar. I'm assuming you'd be looking to some of the bigger craft brewers to offer this though? Maybe O' Haras, Galway Bay, Independence, 8 Degrees etc? Anyone know if they offer this? Might float the idea in a sports club I'm involved with if they do!

Many craft breweries do key kegs which are 30 liters

So I got the keg in the end from eventbars €230 for a 50l keg of tuborg, that came with the tap and the gass (I hacked my own bar together to mount it all on)

The keg went down well, it had maybe 5 pints left in it at the end of the party, in hindsight I would have been better off with a few slabs of different beers.

I could see this been more doable if you had your own tap, gas, and bar setup and only had to buy the keg, other wise financially it's not worth it.

I think I will invest in my own setup though! when I get my own place...
