Hoping there is a DIY solution to this as i have 40+ people coming for party tomorrow!!

See attached pic, the toilet has been slow to fill for some time. There is basically a barely identifiable trickle that takes ages to fill it after flushing. The water supply also delivers cold water to the tap bseide it, and the flow of cold water to the tap is ample, though not gushing.

Anyone any ideas what I might be able to do. I don't know any plumbers well enough to out in a call at this time of year.

    Thanks.

Plumber & new ballcock or plumber to clean filter on ballcock, not an easy DIY job.

I have the same problem with the same type of fitting in my loo.

My landlord has had two different plumbers replace the fitting twice and neither of them can get it to work!!

    3rd time lucky.
Remove the high pressure insert. Only known to good plumbers. Volla 😉

Remove the inlet pipe there's a filter in it and it's blocked.

I had the same problem with my mum's toilet, a bit of investigating found a barely noticeable hole in a diaphragm washer, replaced it and problem solved.

Found a replacement in local B+Q for 4 quid, similar to this one, a 'Siamp diaphragm washer'.

Thanks for the replies. If anyone has time to post some advice on how to clean the filter it would be great, otherwise its the watering can, which her indoors is not a massive fan of!

Found a youtube vid and got it sorted. Just needed a cleaning and/or let the water flow through, working like a charm now. Thanks for the advice.

I have the same issue, which YouTube clip helped you?

    Hi, this is the one....

In my particular toilet there is an arm that goes from bottom to top that needs to be unclipped at the top, then a quarter rotation anti clockwise did the trick. Have a glass handy to cover the flow if you haven't the wayer turned off.

I don't suppose you have one of these inserts that you could take a picture of, so I know what to remove?

Maybe you know of a youtube link, etc that you could post?

Might be useful for anyone else....the issue I had kept recurring, the flow would be ok to start with, then gradually reduce. Each time I'd rinse the rubber washer thing (excuse the tech lingo), and it would work again for a while. Last night it stopped completely no matter how many times I tried to "clean it". I picked up a replacement from the plumbers suppliers and it flowed nicely first time. Phew. We take toilets for granted, but they really are invaluable!
