Make sure you press the clutch fully before changing. There's a risk of crunching otherwise. Mastering the heel & toe technique is the sure way to impress anybody though.

Missed most of this, but I'll happily throw in my tuppence - clutch down fully, good firm grip on the knob, positive strokes to slot it home and let the power in smoothly. Try and match your revs as well - nothing makes for bad shifting so much as being out of sync. Too fast and she'll crunch, too slow and the whole thing will stall. Also, try and anticipate when she's wanting a shift -you don't want to be there with your hand on the knob and putting your foot in it when she's not ready. Timing is all.

This is about tractors, right?
