Looking for the best route and taking in local knowledge. Route needs to be:

    As flat as possible
    As sheltered as possible
Are there any roads that I should avoid (surface, accident black spots)
Are there any roads I really need to cycle (nice view, proper nice cafe)

Google maps is telling me it's about 165km, cycling into a headwind I'm sure so factoring that into the journey.

I'm coming from Blackrock so first section would be the route I know to Rathdrum...after that I know nothing.

Would like to stop in/near Enniscorthy for some food.

If anyone wants to join me for part of the route, I'll be going on Thursday morning when the weather is hopefully looking a bit better.

I cycle this route often enough and tend to avoid Enniscorthy these days, going through Bunclody instead. There's quite a few options, but from Rathdrum, Aughrim, Tinahely, Shillelagh, Bunclody, Kiltealy, Adamstown, Ramsgrange, Duncannon is one of the nicer ones; see https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/11343419 Small rolling hills, with a reasonable drag out of Bunclody, but well sheltered. You can swap Carnew for Shillelagh, Tinahely which is shorter but a bit more drab and includes the Kilcavan gap.

If you go Enniscorthy, you're simplest choices are N11 Wexford, Duncannon roundabout, Wellingtonbridge, Duncannon, or Enniscorthy N30, New Ross, Duncannon. Have ridden both of them and not a big fan of either. The Wexford - Wellingtonbridge road is good fun but a bit of a rollercoaster of small hills. Note the larger N roads are much more exposed to wind and carry a lot of traffic, so possibly not the best option in the current weather.

Enniscorthy is totally impassable and Bunclody is badly flooded too.

Might be o.k. by tomorrow but I wouldn't bet on it.

Unless going via Wexford town and the N11 though it's not strictly necessary to traverse the flooded areas of the town, and there would be routes through the town for this that are well away from the river.
