    Hi guys,

Just did a quick search and there seems to be no recent posts about this as such.

I bought GT02A GPS Tracker and I am wondering what is the best option with regards a sim card for this?

Do they use much data? Any suggestions what plans you have found that seem to be cost effective.

    Thanks

I'm not familiar with your tracker but generally a SIM card in a self-monitored gps tracker needs very little maintenance. Most only need credit to text status updates to your phone so as long as you are putting the minimum amount of credit on the SIM card to keep it active (normally something like €5/€10 every 6 months) you should be fine. If you are using a bill pay SIM card just get whatever the cheapest-per-month that is available & has free text messages included.
Wherever you bought the tracking system should be able to give you more information.

I am using an old Meteor sim in mine...€5 every 3 months to keep it topped up. I don't use the real-time tracking as that uses data, I just use the texting system. Has worked flawlessly since I got it (4.5 years ago)...strangely enough, except for that one time it reported my car as doing 100mph when I dropped it in for an inspection to a local garage.

Recently I bought a tracker for another car and had awful trouble finding a sim card to work in it as it used a full sized sim card. Nano/micro sims with adaptors wouldn't work as the connections are ever so slightly different. I tried vodafone, meteor and o2 sim cards and none would work. In the end, the only sim that would work was a Lyca sim...just something to bear in mind if you run into difficulty.

id advise on a vodafone sim for anyone, they probably have the best gprs coverage in the country so even if your car ended up in a carpark it would find it, also were the worst to happen and it ended up international, they have the most roaming agreements so the highest chance of finding it elsewhere.

For most 'professional' thieves use GPS spoofing so the GPS trackers report false locations...

Ironic that defeat device is cheaper than the tracker....
