I've recently put an extension on my house.

The plaster was finished about 7 days ago and was visibly bone dry.

The builder had recommended using polybond mixed with water 1/4 before painting.

My brother in law advised we should just paint. I had just painted freshly plastered walls in the past without a problem.

I took the shortcut and just painted.

After 2 coats of emulsion dampness is showing through every where there was a mushroom fixing.

I really need to fix this now asap. Google has turned up some suggestions.

    A) Mix polybond into the paint and put another coat on.

    B) Use a damp spot spray or paint

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

Mix polybond into the paint, then paint the walls.
Don't water the polybond down, nor the paint.

Thanks for the reply. I even tried that on the second room and the damp spots came through again.

But the answer was time, a few days more and the spots got smaller and smaller.

If I was advising anyone else on this, I would suggest you insist your builder uses some sort of plastic cap over the mushroom fixing, or silicon.
