I call it Boxing Day for 2 reasons:
1 - The idea of kindness behind the name, bosses giving their employees a Christmas Box the day after. Its far more appealing to me than "St. Stephen" - a man who believes in fictional entities that judge him and everyone and plant dinosaur bones in the Earth for a laugh.

2 - It really pisses off stupid people

Is Stephens day a big drinking day in Ireland?

    FFS.

    It is St. Stephen's Day!

Now do you want me to repeat that?

Lovely that we can keep our own traditions.

The annual Boxing Day thread, how I've missed you!

It's Boxing Day in Donegal, it's a lot simpler to say as much as anything else.

My Nephew got me a Boxing DVD boxset, a wifebeater, a rapist and Roy Jones Jr

This wren thing fascinates me. It's not a tradition In Dublin or up North but I know it's still done in Cork, Kerry and other Minster counties. Do the wren boys still dress up in wicker costumes like in days of yore?
