Travelled last year on tour staying in Stratford On Avon, all fine in terms of hotel etc but very quite at night.
I see different tour stays in Wolverhampton which i understand will take longer to commute each day but might be more lively at night...anyone out there any thoughts??

    Far too expensive.

I'm staying in Birmingham - two nights in a 4 star is €120 quid for 2 then a train to Cheltenham should be about €30 return each. Only 40 mins too and trains return late into the night.

To be honest I stayed in cheltenham other years and it was grand but nightlife consists of 100 blokes in each pub, i was thinking wolverhampton might have a midweek trade with a slightly more balanced gender breakdown, Stratford was the same as cheltenham, noone out only irish race punters.

The only issue with that is the couple hours commuting back and forth each day. Combined, your shelling out 180 for two nights. I'd happily pay the extra to stay near the track in a B&B and skip the trains back forth which I would imagine will be a tad busy. But that's just me.

If you're looking for mixed nightlife Bristol is your best bet. No sign of race crowds, just a great young lively bar and nightclub scene.

Train can be a nightmare with the queues and just being on mass transit in general so if you've more than 3 going share a taxi, we prebooked for about 120 pounds return in a 6 seater, vs about 15-20 ahead for a Calcutta train

True, it's a bit of a cockfest at the festival. Never been to Wolverhampton. But you can chase tail any other week. I don't go to cheltenham expecting a host of fillies about (it's too cold). Aintree caters for that with the sun out I'd imagine.

BumperD knows his onions here. Grand National meeting (if not GN day) is the time to hunt for poonanee.

You don't need to be chasing tail to want something other than standing in a wedged full pub full of 95% males who have been inthe same clothes sinking pints for the previous 12 hours!!!

I have no interest in chatting to the women but it's nice to be reminded they actually exist!!

Stay in Cheltenham ,there is some Ok value to be got by using AirbnB or similar sites. The majority will be men in pubs but there is still plenty of women about.

Its much cheaper to stay in Birmingham or Bristol but you have the hassle of traveling over and back each day.
If you definitely dont wanna stay in Cheltenham then Bristol will be your best bet as its got a huge student population and is a very good city for nightlife.
