Is it? What's the story with big variations in theme light its giving off?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,561 ✭✭✭Duff

It's the light coming from it refracting in the atmosphere due to turbulence which scatters the light in all directions and makes it look like it's twinkling.

I saw a UFO yesterday. It was just a bird, but I didn't know which type.

"Oi! What sort of bird are you?"

    No answer.

"I can't identify you. You are a UFO!"

    "It's a fair cop, guvnor".

I've never eaten goose. Maybe I will have, tomorrow.

I watched this for 10 minutes or so in mid December 2015. I took these two photographs with my phone camera at 15.50 pm and 15.51pm Thought at first it was a plane, but as it was stationary it must be the star one of the posters suggested. I don't know what the lights to the right of one of the photographs is...but it may be a boat. The photographs were taken in Blackrock Co.Dublin.

    http://www.met.ie/about/valentiaobservatory/radiosonde.asp
Upper-air ascents are made from the Observatory four times daily, at 0515, 1115, 1715 and 2315 GMT. Vaisala RS80 radiosondes with LORAN C windfinding and a DigiCORA ground station are used for all ascents. The radiosonde contains four sensors, two capacitive aneroid barometers for pressure, a capacitive bead for temperature and a Humicap thin film capacitor for humidity. The outputs of these capacitors vary with the changes in the parameters being monitored and are used in conjunction with a fixed inductor.

Or in English , it's a weather balloon

Remember all the dodgy photos of UFOs taken on dodgy cameras back in the day? Now that everyone has super camera phones no UFOs. What gives.

They have already landed (earlier footage was real) and are living among us now so no need for UFOs.
Apparently they just take Ryanair like the rest of us

would they be on the flight path towards dublin airport?

If you were upwind of them they would be silent and all for a period of time.

I missed that craze too myself. I remember tuning in to _one_ episode once during the height of the craze. The whole story line was about a guy who could melt people by putting them in his shadow. A premise so ridiculous and childish that I never gave the series another chance.

I was in town (dublin) two weeks ago and commented that the north star was looking particularly bright this evening.

It was the top of the spire.

    :o
