    Hey guys,
I just wanted to ask for some advice with regards to my insurace,
I'm currently under a named driver policy with my dad being 23 years of age insured on a Opel astra 2005 1.4 petrol. I am planning on getting a newer car more likely a BMW 1.6 engine very soon as I don't want a 2.0 engine and just wanted to ask is it worth going solo with my insurance in the next few months when I get a newer car or should I stay as a named driver until I am 25 years old and then go ahead and get a newer car on my own insurance?
    Thanks again :D

Better off getting your own policy, yes it's going to be more expensive but you are going to have to build up claims free driving on your own policy anyway in the long term in order for your premium to come down somewhat.

BTW what you are doing now is known as "fronting" to insurance companies where the main driver is not the actual policy holder, alot of insurance companies are wising up to this now and will just load whoever is the highest risk on the policy irrespective of whether they are a policy holder or a named driver.
