    Hi all,
I recently bought a 03 a3, it needs a couple of bits off the test and general tidying so if anyone has any experience in the following that'd be great!

Replace hazard light switch, is it a big job to remove the plastic fascia?

Stiff changing gear, and it squeaks when the car is off and you move from 3rd to 4th?

Boot not opening off the fob Is it just the fob? it locks and unlocks the car perfectly,

There's a clicking noise from a black box under the bonnet it had an electrical connection and a couple of pipes off it, it comes and goes,

When I close the drivers door there's a rattle, I'll have to take off the door card for a look any clue as to what it is?

    Thanks and happy Xmas!

From memory it's the same as a Golf for hazard switch...

Has the car been laying up? Sounds like brakes might need to be loosened up with a few spirited drives and braking. The hazard switch is covered above. The clicking unit under the bonnet is most likely the fuel tank evaporation solenoid, this will be actuated at different times and will click audibly, no problem there. Check the check strap in the door for tightness and lubricate both the strap and hinges with a silicon grease. Could also be a bit of glass behind the door card if a windows had been broken into and not cleared out right? The key fob is probably the culprit but you can check that the comfort control module is receiving the boot open request using a scantool.

Thanks for the info, it's the gear change that's squeaky not the brakes,

I see, the squeak may in that case be a worn engine mount or rubber bush being contorted by the torque change between 3rd and 4th. Any competent mechanic will be able to advise you quickly about this.
