    Hey guys,

I'm looking to pick up an android tv box last minute for my dad for christmas. Just wondering what are the best ones for running KODI. Thanks

The best, by a long way, is the Nexus Player with Lolirock installed but you're not going to get one of them at this late stage. There are loads of Chinese boxes on adverts and the best ones are probably the M8S or the MXQ.

Get him one of these and in the new year have a look around for a Nexus, flash it with Lolirock and then when the Chinese thing fails around June or July you can give him the Nexus as a replacement!!

It's a pity you don't have more time :( I've had 4 of the Chinese things and they all work fine for a while but eventually they start to lock up and fail. I have an MXQ for about an year and its still going, all the others died well before the year, but it's very slow to do anything now and has to be powered down regularly when it freezes. I have the Nexus in the sitting room and its the same today as the day I bought it a year ago.

That's great advice thanks! Drogheda is a bit far for me today so I'll take your advice and buy him the mxq today and then go with the nexus when that breaks.

Just wondering, the one I'm going for on adverts is 45 and doesn't say fully loaded like the rest which are in the 70/80 mark. Is it better to pay more for the fully loaded ones or can I do that myself easily enough?

Much better to figure out how to load individual add ons yourself. If you don't, you can also download a build for free online, so fully loaded adds nothing to the value.

I put a couple of links in this post, more than enough to get even a complete novice sorted.
