Have NCT in an hr,VW Polo, engine management warning light came on last week and got it checked in garage, could find no fault or dirty petrol,it went off itself.

Typical just after coming on now:(.....would it be a fail for NCT??

    Clean well cared for car.

Can I treat car on way to N C T in anyway to help it??

    Thanks for any replies.

Might be of assistance. Happened me last year but was being caused by miscommunication in the system and nothing wrong with the car. I got it fixed before the test. Best of luck.

The check engine light in itself is not a reason to fail. Your best bet now is to go to the test as is and see what happens.

You could disconnect the battery to knock it off too.

It shouldn't fail on EML, have had French cars in the past. I should know!

If it's a petrol, it won't fail just because of the engine management light.
If it's a diesel, then it will.

I had the EML light on in my Golf when I went for the test and it flew through, no bother.

Just check your indicator and stop lights work, can't remember which but one or both of those circuits are part of the "engine" warning light system

Yes ....said to tester beforehand how EML light came on month ago but garage could not see any reason....

He said that as its a petrol car that's not a fail but it would be for s diesel.

Thanks to all for replies earlier today.
