Aer lingus bag drop and airport arrival time

    Hi everyone!

I'm flying with aer lingus in a couple of weeks, My flight departs at 6:40am. Do you think I would be ok arriving at the airport at 4:30am?

I will have one 20kg bag to check in. My flight is to Spain and I would be departing from Dublin airport.

My other question is how do I check in my bag? I have checked in online and have my boarding pass printed. Do I just bring my bag to an aer lingus desk or is it different because I have already checked in online?

    Thanks for your help!

TIme should be fine, I would consider purchasing the fast track security I think it is about 6 euro on the dublin airport website.

You just go to a tag and drop desk with your bag and they will take it from you. The last time I was there there were only a couple in the queue in front of me.

You need to go to the 'bag drop' area but there's nothing to worry about because all of the Aer Lingus desks are in the same area on the ground floor of terminal 2 and there are Aer Lingus people there to guide you to the proper desk. Just look near the green self-service machines and you'll see someone who will assist you, they will have the Aer Lingus green uniform.

You paid extra to check in so early, if you left it until 30 hours before the flight you could have selected your seat for free.

You'll be in plenty of time at 4:30, I'd feel ok arriving at 5:15 a.m. for that flight but maybe go that little bit earlier if you're not familiar with the layout and don't want to be stressed out.

I've flown on two early morning flights recently (Oct & Nov) from T2 and security was a breeze, max 10 minutes both times. If the OP goes at 4:30 for a 6:40 flight, paying for fast track would be a criminal waste of money.

Thanks everyone! So its just a matter of going to an aer lingus desk and leaving my bag even though I've already checked in online and have my boarding pass?

    Thanks again!

Yes and I suggest that you make a note of the time when you're through security, you will probably feel ok arriving a little bit later next time. I'd predict that if you arrive at 4:30 as you suggest and go directly through security after dropping your bag off that you will have cleared security before 5 a.m.
