    Hi Guys,

I got GTA 5 on release day and it's never really worked that well on my pc

    I'm running a Nvidia 760 2gig, 8 gig ram (1866) and Intel Core i5-4670K

Now I know I can't run the game at ultra setting, but I don't think my hardware is that bad.

Anyway, the game is not running well. A lot of clipping/glitches (when you drive around the road will dissapear etc.)

I even put textures on low (which greatly decreases the vram usage), but this made no difference. I looked this up online and people are talking about adjusting v-sync. I've tried this and it works sometimes.

Anyone got any reccomadations or can post a link to somewhere that shows optimum setting for my card (I tried looking and could find anything useful)

    Thanks for the help

I didn't notice anything like that when I played it. If you got it through steam maybe verify that all the files are as they should be, updates can break things.

Are you loading it from a HDD or SSD? Shot in the dark but might be notable

Thanks for the replies guys guys.

Not using steam - the rockstar launcher.

SSD isn't that big. Wouldn't be able to fit GTA on it.

I'll mess around see what I can do. Initially I was being stubborn, refusing to go under high textures (to be fair my vram seemed to allow it), but I set alot of things to low yesterday and it still ran the same.

Verify game's cache, keep everything low like you have. Disable V-sync and perhaps force it off from your GPU CP. Also post-processing is usually the thing that tanks framerate so no anti aliasing. Make sure nothing else is running when gaming. Be sure your computer overall isn't running too much bloat in the background (keep the PC clean).

Keep GPU drivers up to date. You shouldn't need a whole graphic setting reccomendation. Just have it low and slowly increase things until it starts putting you below 60 or whatever your personal minimum is.

Try turning off some of the more hungry settings, MSAA is switched off on mine because funny glitches happen when that's on. Definitely keep the drivers up to date anyways.

Also, everytime I load the game up I have to switch the refresh rate from 60hz to 50hz and then back again if I want it running smooth, otherwise random stuttering persists.

Only just saw this now. Had what sounds like the same issue a while back. Resolved it by changing CPU afffinity. Simply put don't let one of your multicore processors run GTAV.exe. Keep that for other functions. I don't know why, but it worked it for me. The idea is that keeps some resources opens for reading texture files off your harddrive and loads them in with little delay. Hopefully it'll work for you.

    My exact "fix"
    Default settings.
ctrl alt del Open the task manager and change GTAV.exe priority to "high" and for affinity deselect one core.

You've effectively gimped the cpu resources available for the game, so keep any settings that are CPU intensive low and bump up whatever else you want to utilise your graphics card's resources as much as desirable. Only downside to this is the image isn't as smooth. Switching Vsync to half may help, but tbh, I adjusted to it with 60fps and the granularity was nothing compared to the previous texture pop ins I'd had to endure until then.

*fingers crossed this works for you*:)

Definite improvement. No texture pop etc. A bit jumpy and frame rate issues

can you check the temperature of your processor? Use Core Temp or something similar.

Pop in, glitching, frame spikes and similar are usually CPU related with GTA, if your processor is overheating or running too hot it could be massively downclocking.

Also have you tried different drivers for the 760?

I had the same issue. I updated my graphics card driver for Nvdia GeForce GTX 660ti and it worked like a charm
