Virgin Technicolor modem

After the ethernet switch failed on our Cisco modem we were given the TC modem. Yer man I spoke to in support recommended it because of its dual simultaneous wifi band capability.

I'm finding this modem to be garbage and wondering is others are experiencing the same problems.
    1. There is no dual band operation possible, confirmed by a separate support agent. The modem has the hardware to do it, but the VM firmware has been hobbled it seems.
    2. The wifi in general is flaky, freezing for minutes at a time, to the point where I have started using a separate wifi AP. Support's standard answer to frozen wifi is reboot the modem.
    3. The device itself requires a factory restore every so often as it refuses to connect resulting in no phone or broadband. We've had to do it twice in 3 weeks.

I've been on to VM support and asked for a replacement, but they are saying since we have it less than 30 days they can't replace it yet. This is despite them having received more calls from us about this modem than the previous 3 years with the Cisco (not that it was anything to write home about).

BTW, anyone thinking of contacting VM via Twitter, don't bother, phone 1908.

I've just had to perform a 2nd factory reset in one day on this to get it to connect to VM again. No amount of reboots would get it to connect.

Contact them via boards, far better than any other support queue as they only put reps with two brain cells on where there's a public record of their actions. Really helpful bunch once you're pleasant.

UPC/VM cripple the current best service in the country with crappy CPE, have done it since they moved away from the 2425(Which was decent for that generation). The only good option really is to beg for old 3925 stock then bridge to your own kit. Nothing else holds up.
