Hi all, just wondering on average how long did your wedding meal take? We're having approx 120 guests and trying to figure out timings!

Also, how long would people recommend leaving between the meal and first dance??

    Thanks!!!

you'll get called around 5:30pm. If its a well run hotel, theyll get you seated and eating first course by 6, if its the usual 4 courses with a cup of tea at the end and your speeches are no more than 20 minutes youll be finished by 8:30.

If you're having a band, allow 40 minutes after meal for them to get setup.
If you're having a DJ, a bit less.
If you're in a venue where everyone is ushered out so tables need to be moved for a dancefloor, allow a bit longer.

Milage may vary on the times, you may sit down later or earlier, meals might be late, speeches might be longer, might be a very small wedding, might be more or less courses.

But really the timing doesnt matter, youll have had your dinner and a couple of drinks at this stage, youll be chatting with everyone. You wont be looking at your watch. the venue and entertainment will know their business and be setting up, let them get on with it, youll get called when theyre ready.
