So, the voting draws to a close and some hard fought battles have been won and lost.

    Post of the Year
There was only ever going to be one winner here with the number of nominations this one got.

In first place, aero2k's post about his mammy with 52.94% of the votes!
In second place, Krustys 'a real runner is...'
and, in third place come whoopsa with 'I'm fecked if...'

    Most Improved ARtist

This was probably the tightest battle for voting on posters, which is a great indictation of how hard it was for people to pick a winner and goes to show the huge improvements so many of you have made. :)

And with a late surge, the winner is....
Overpronator with 23.53% of the votes

Nothing much separating second from eighth, however...
In second place, Bungy_Girl with 14.71% of the votes
and in joint third, Pacing Mule and Keily Unusual with 13.24% each

Performance of the Year Roads/Mountains/Ultra etc..

The voters found it hard to decide between the top two, as was evident in the discussion on the thread.

In first place, sure it's only the Clown for his performance in Frankfurt with 34.21% of the votes
In close second, smmoore for his performance in Oslo with 27.63% of the votes
In third, we have Don Hannon's Wicklow Way out and back with 17.11% of the votes

    Performance of the Year T&F/XC
This was a two horse race from the start, though one poster cheated by getting nominated twice :D Kiely Unusual kicked from about halfway through the voting period and never looked back...

...so yeah, the winner is KU for his 4:06 1500m with 50.91% of the votes
DubGal comes next following her win in last years Wicklow Senior XC with 36.36% of the votes
and in third...sure it's KU again, for his 4th place finish in the Dublin Novice

    Photo of the Year
    Not much in this one.

    1st place - The Beer Mile video - 36.67%
    2nd place - Murph's friend - 35%
    3rd place - Pacing Mules before/after - 28.33%

    Race Report of the Year

    Awkward voters are awkward :p

We have joint first place and TRR can FINALLY straighten up his bowtie and come up to collect an award.:D

1st place with 21.57% of the votes each
TRR's London Marathon report and aero2k's DCM report

In second, Wild Garlic's Charlville Half Marathon Report

In joint third, Krusty's Run the Line 2014, Whoopsa's DCM AND jebuz(not sure if this is 's or just ' :pac:) Frankfurt report

    Training Log of the Year
So many great logs, so little time to read them all :)

1st - jebuz - Run run run run run run run.... (22.67%)
    2nd - ThebitterLemon - The Boggers Log (20%)
    3rd - Krusty - Send in the Clowns - BAC 10K Challenge (18.67%)

    Thread of the Year

1st place is truly deserving of this award, with 42.35% of the votes - The Bohermeen Sweepstakes
    2nd place with 35.29% - DCM novices
and, in 3rd with 10.59% - The Irish Beermile Championships

    Race of the Year
Well deserved winner here, given the % who run this on here compared to the large numbers who run some of the other races it goes to show just how good it is that it wins out over big number races like DCM

    1st place - Donadea 50k (29.58%)
    2nd place - DCM (22.54%)
3rd place - The Irish Beermile Championships (12.68%)

    New Poster of the Year
With an astonishing 74.55% of the votes! Only gunna be one winner!!
    FIREDANCE!!!!

In second, nop98 and in third, vanderlyle

    Poster of the Year
A hotly contested vote for much of the voting period.

    The well deserved winner is......

Dubgal with 40% of the votes
And in second, following not too far behind, Walshb with 30.67% of the votes

The rest of the votes fairly evenly spread out amongst the nominees...but in third place Myles Splitz!

Sorry, I tried to link all the top 3 posts/threads/logs etc but boards wouldn't let me post anymore links :)

A worthy winner in Dubgal. Contributes to all areas of the forum, and takes an interest in all disciplines. Certainly no one trick pony, and the mentored novices thread is just one part of her contribution.

But performance of these awards has to be walshb. He was my top pick, but never imagined there'd be all that many that would agree with my viewpoint. Over 30% of the vote in the most popular poll is a remarkable feat for somebody of such a controversial nature. I guess it shows that his input to the forum is very much valued. I look forward to his return in the new year.

Well done to all the winners.

Congrats & well done to all the winners & well done to Racoon Queen for taking this on. I'd say there was a lot of work involved & it's a nice way to end the year.

Great endorsement for Donadea 50k given the huge number of posters on here who do DCM (also a great race). Well done Anto - well deserved. You should be proud of that :)

I echo the above, especially delignited to see Donadea ad the beermile win gongs. I am really annoyed to see TRR win report of the year though, I thought my own was way better.:pac:

Also I am delighted to see the Bohermeen sweepstakes win out as thread of the year. Between it and Donadea it is nice to see the little guy win, sometimes quality beats quantity.

    Hello all,

I tried to stay away from these threads, as unlike my fellow winner TRR, I'd never lower myself to canvassing for myself - at least not so blatantly. I'm delighted to get post of the year, not for myself, but for my poor little ma. She didn't quite get the internet, but she'd be delighted to know how a bunch of strangers appreciated a few words written in her honour. She loved a nice bit of poetry and /or prose (a little musical reference for Ososlo, ma was also a Tom waits fan), so I'm grateful for having had a great place to post, and for all the kind words that have been said about it since.

Sorry for making people cry - ironically I wasn't sad when I wrote it, just a bit overwhelmed with a huge mixture of emotions. For me, running is about so much more than my occasional battles with the clock and myself, so I hope that came across.

As for the race report, well it was my last one, so I had to make it long....

For the other awards, I was delighted to see I had picked 3 winners in Krusty, Firedance and Dubgal, though of course all choices were very narrow ones - the nominees were very strong in all categories.

Happy Christmas to all, I hope I bump into some of you in the Park over the next week or two.

Congrats to everyone and fair play RQ for organising this.

Fair to say some shock results here but also great to see !

Post of the year - well deserved IMO.

Most improved ARTist - shocked to be nominated, shocked to be in top 3 too. Hopefully I will improve enough this coming year to feel it justified. Congrats to OP.

Performances - Hard to pick from both top 3s to be fair !

Photo - Meh a video won the photo award. (I'm just sulking for coming 3rd in a 3 horse race :D )

Race Report - Worthy winners here too. Enjoyed all of those reports.

Training Log - Again the right top 3 there in terms of entertainment and progression !

Thread - LOVE IT ! :D I did argue passionately for this and I'm delighted to see the forum voted it thread of the year. A massive contrast to the attitude of oh, it doesn't belong in a running forum. I'm really happy that the majority felt it did and to vote it ahead of the DCM thread is very special. Thanks a million everyone :)

Race - Having ran a half marathon in Donadea the thoughts of a 50k in the same setting are quite appealing. A shock win I would say for this over DCM.

New Poster - A great contributor to the forum. Congrats FD

Poster Of The Year - There really is no contest for this. Dubgal made an epic contribution to the forum. I actually think the novice mentor should get a special award and category to themselves such is their impact and work level put in. A surprise 2nd place and a controversial one I suspect given he is banned at the moment :pac: After his artist in the spotlight stint I saw a different side to walshie and I can see why he got so many votes.

Overall it's been a great year on the forum. Looking forward to seeing what the 2016 awards looks like already.

Yes, fair play RQ for organising this, it must have taken some doing so thanks :)

Post of the year - THRILLED to see Aero win this, well done :)

Most Improved - Congrats to OP, everyone in this category deserved their nomination and isn't improving our running why we are all here? well done to everyone but especially 2nd place Bungy Girl who works hard all year round and I can't wait to see what next year brings for you :)

Delighted to see Bohermeen win thread of the year too, its these kind of threads that bring people together, great feel good factor and of course, a worthy cause.

Poster Of The Year, delighted to see DG and Myles in the top 3, both fantastic posters and the absolute best IRL too :)

and to all the other winners & nominees, well done! (where's the party??!)

I prefer to praise everyone else so not really sure what to say except thanks :o as Myles said recently we run a lot and then spend a disproportionate amount of time talking to strangers on the internet about it :D but that's half the fun and in a lot of cases those strangers have become friends :)

    Happy Christmas Folks!

There really should be a recount in the 'Poster of the Year' award.

Not to take away from Dubgal, but the award would make a nice going away present for Walshb!

Thank you! Firedance texted me this afternoon telling me 'the news' and I have to confess, I got a tiny bit - ok fairly - emosh :o

It's been a helluva year and in running terms, I have to thank everyone on here for their support and goodwill: from the general banter over Raheny and Enniscorthy at the start of the year to support and encouragement when I got my first setback due to illness. If I pick out any names, I will leave someone out so you're all in here ;)'cept Ososlo...she always gets mentioned :D

The spotlight thread followed and this will always have a really special place in my running heart. I was reluctant to 'do' it cos I was afraid of the emotional can of worms it would open. And open it did, opened with style by AMK ;) The support and goodwill resulting from this was overwhelming and helped me to lay those old ghosts well and truly to rest. The support and goodwill from YOU, random strangers on the internet did this!! :D

And then I was asked (actually frogmarched) to the novices thread and again, man, what a ride. But always behind me was the trust, expertise, camaraderie - and by now friendship of many - on top of the shoulders of you guys.

In between was a general acceptance and welcoming of another random internet stranger posting and commenting on the A/R rollercoaster.

So how could I not post? You guys rock, each and every one of you. To be recognised in such a positive way for my addiction thirst for running knowledge is kinda...bloody awesome so thank you. You do know I have learnt more from you guys than the other way round???

Congrats to everyone else on the Awards, I'm in such good company I'm going to have the first neat Jameson of the Christmas season and toast us all!

Can I say thanks again and big thanks to RQ for organising and sorting all this :)

    "Merry Christmas to all
and to all a good night"
