I am importing a piece of musical equipment from Australia. The equipment itself is worth €2000 with postage on top of that.
I think that the import vat that I will have to pay is 23%.
Would it change if I got it it to sent to a friend in Australia and he repackaged it and sent it on to me?

Would it be better to purchase it through a company I work with, use their vat number and get it posted to them from the supplier?

What would happen if I got it sent to parcel motel in the uk from the supplier and they then send it on to me?

    Any advice appreciated.
