Black golf - treat rust and detail

Hi. I have just got a full service and timing kit done on my black (standard paint, no pearl or metallic effect) mk5 golf. I now need to have some rust spots on the door treated along with some scratches/marks elsewhere.I also want to get it detailed. All will need to be done professionally as it's at that stage now. Am I right in saying that I should first just give it a wash and get the rust and marks treated and then get it detailed afterwards?

I can post a few pics if it helps.

Also anyone got recommendations for a nice set of wheel trims to fit the 15" steels on a mk5 golf.

    Thanks in advance.

Are you going to have a go at the rust yourself?
If not what's your location so we know where to recommend.

In Northwest Donegal. I will get the rust and detailing done by pro's. I have 2 very good places that I will go to. Just wondering what is the best order to do it in.

I'd be washing it first, and getting the rust spots dealt with first. Then once that's taken cared of and finished a few days later go for the valet.

Excellent. That was the order I was thinking would be best.

It's worth noting that VW have a 12 year rust warranty on the Mark 5 Golf. They refused to cover the rust I found on my own, but you should have a try with your local dealer before shelling out to get it fixed yourself.

That's interesting, never thought of it. I'd say they might refuse as I haven't kept it in pristine condition, but might be worth a shot. Must look out my handbook.
