I prefer the look of the Hyundai both interior and exterior
but my husband is adamant that the Toyota is a better Compact SUV to buy.

I guess I value heated leather seats more than the difference in BHP... Am I wrong??

The Rav 4 Luna 2.0Diesel and the Tuscon 1.7Diesel Executive are relatively similar in price...

Is he correct or is there much in the difference between these 2 vehicles?

    Your husband is wrong imo.

The Rav4 feels cheap on the inside and their ain't much value in it. I'd also say the Tucson despite having less bhp won't be lacking in real world performance either.

New Kia Sportage is worth looking at too, pretty much the same car as the Tucson though equipment isn't quite as generous as on the Tucson.

toota have really lost out in a sector they dominated (and arguably invented) for years.

I'd take the Tucson. It's a very nice wagon tbh.

It's kind of surprising when you actually see a new one on the road. My first thought is always "why?". My second thought is WTF is Toyota doing. It's a perfect example of what Toyota are doing wrong. It just seems like they haven't bothered checking what the competition is doing. They've just launched a facelift and it's just not great. They really should be trying to get a whole new model out. They should also bin the name.

yep. I know someone with a 152 rav and it's so underwhelming.
I don't think they should or would bin the name though.

    Ya I like the name...

My husband's main selling points are the increased BHP, Rav 4 is 140, and Tuscon is 114
The new leather dash is nice in rav4 and he reckons the interior of the hyundai looks plasticy/cheaper
He reckons the rav 4 will hold its value better as toyota tend to do
He thinks the hyundai and Kia are too common - so there are loads of second hands for sale
But mainly I think its just that the name Toyota makes him feel more comfortble as hyundai used to be thought of as cheap.

I do like that the people on here are leaning towards tuscon tho :-) thanks!

I would drive both tbh. power delivery on diesel toyoras is always an issue. no torque down low and all the power in a lump up near the top.
I haven't driven the new Tucson but have driven the ix35 that it replaces and for a smaller engine it has a nice bit I low down power - which is more useful IMO.
power figures quoted are always a peak figure at one particular rpm figure and isn't telling you the full story.

You need to sit in and drive both, the Rav4 is the one that has the cheap interior. I don't like the interior styling either, it's aged badly imo. It's failed at pulling off the retro interior styling. No offense but your husband sounds like a devoted Toyota fan who probably still sees them as they were back in the 1980s and 1990s. The Koreans have improved with each new generation of model while Toyota stand still next to them.

I drove a lot.of this style of car in the last few weeks from the kuga to the kadjar , quasqui , rav 4 and the Honda crv and we have decided to go for the hyundai tuscon. Fits for what we want . The rav is very basic . I think Toyota have dropped the ball in their styling tbh
