    Hi guys,

I have never shipped a parcel before and am very apprehensive about it and would like to somebodies views that has done this before. I am shipping a pair of high value speakers, box weighs about 18kg and the value of the speakers is €2,200. The buyer will pay me by Paypal, and i just would like to know who is the most reliable shipper and how much insurance would be, how does it work etc?

Just any tips at all would be great.

    Thanks,

Entirely unrelated but is that off Adverts by any chance?

Tread carefully if so... there can be lots of scammers trying their luck to make a quick buck on there....

No the sale is not from adverts. I assume that Paypal will protect me in any case. Thanks for word of caution all the same.

I have no knowledge of this transaction, but beware of paypal. Its easy to scam someone.

I don't know how well PayPal will protect you, hence why I questioned it in the first place, I've heard lots of stories of people sending guitars and decks and stuff through done deal and getting ripped off via PayPal, if it doesn't feel right, don't go with it....

Not worth the risk. Too easy for dispute to be opened and paypal side with buyer.

He could claim you sent and empty box or that product was damaged then send you back the empty box etc.

    I would steer clear.

There are several ways they can get you if you use paypal. I would be extremely cautious.

Did you bother to search the email online? i.e. you could post it here, or pm me the email they sent and I/we could have a look.

They often send out the same generic email with a few terms changed, and since they often use pidgin/poor english it can be easily found. So you would search google in quotes to find the exact phrase, and leave out words which may have changed.

e.g. they might say "greetings special seller" or some odd line.

As far as I know PayPal only protect the buyer, I've stopped using them when selling an item for this reason.

    Exactly...

I was selling an expensive CD deck a while ago on Adverts, as soon as I had it up I was getting offers for it well over my asking price. i knew something was up as they were offering more than it was worth!

After offer was made the person PMed me they wanted me to post to some Eastern Europe hellhole, and he would pay via PayPal, how I lolled, I wouldn't be sending 2K of speakers to Estonia and hoping PayPal will pay up....

OP the guy could very well be legit , but I'd certainly not be willing to risk 200 let alone 2k with paypal.
