Tractor battery

    Hi lads

    l need a new battery for tractor. it's a varta that's in it with the poles together on the same side. it's 110ah 760cca. I'm told it's a 627. It is clamped on the bottom. There is a ledge that comes out on the battery.

    Anyone know of a varta stockist in the west?

    l looked at a different brand battery that's the same size and rating but it doesn't have a ledge to clamp down on. l don't want to go making up hommade battery clamps. l just want a battery that fits straight in.

    Alot of batteries should have that ledge on them. You are right not to be messing with the wrong fit but I'd say a local motor factors should sort you with the right one.

    Fergus Noone in Mt Bellew has a fair stock of batteries, maybe give him a shout. Bring the old one with you for comparison. It's likely there'll be other makes with similar features, even if you can't get a varta.

    Joe Whelans has them in the Kilrush shop so may have them in Loughrea too?
