    Hi,

I am on DA and want to do a course. The course is ran by a private school. Would I be eligible for any grant from FAS?

    Best,

Call ito your local office and ask would be the best bet.

I'm doing a QQI level 5 course after failing to find rehabilitive work. I informed social welfare, they sent me a form for BTEA or the option of staying on DA (ignoring form).

My medical card covered for half the course fees. Maybe ask college/school if they do something similar, if you have one?

Not sure on private school stuff, maybe ring citizens information? Or again ask school do they know of any subsidies/grants for DA recipients?

You might also have a look at DARE access? Just as an option?

It's an EMT course with the Ambulance Service.

Just looking at a course in BFEI.

If the same applies to your school - VTOS

VTOS (Vocational Training and Opportunities Scheme)
This scheme allows unemployed people over 21 to engage in full-time further
education programmes while retaining social welfare entitlements.
VTOS applies to all courses on offer in the Institute, however, early application is advisable as there are a limited number of places which are allocated on a first-come basis. See www.welfare.ie or www.studentfinance.ie for further details on eligibility or ask at the local Department of Social Protection Office. VTOS Application Forms are available from the Institute.

You may also be able to get a grant from SUSI?

If you give the exact course maybe I can help further?
